Urgent: People stabbed at synagogue in Manchester, police say

LONDON, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Several people were stabbed at a synagogue in Manchester on Thursday, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham told BBC that people should "avoid the area," but reassured listeners that "the immediate danger appears to be over."

In a statement posted on its website, the North West Ambulance Service said it was responding to reports of an incident on Middleton Road in Crumpsall in Manchester and was "assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services."
